About IOGTA
Indian Ocean Group Training Association is a non for profit organisation that was established in 1995, with aims to provide access to vocational training and to administer apprenticeships and traineeships to the Indian Ocean Territories – Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

At IOGTA, we offer a wide range of services to the Indian Ocean Territories, such as: training services, apprentice and trainee assistance, employment services, government services and public grants.

IOGTA provides a range of accredited VET training and non-accredited training, from Providing First Aid, to Chainsaw Maintenance!

Apprenticeship and traineeship services, including the recruitment, employment, administration, support and mentoring processes, to ensure that the apprentice/trainee, as well as the employer are satisfied and to boost completion rates.

Employment services provided by IOGTA include a labour hire process for employees, assistance for Job Seekers, such as; email distributions of upcoming employment opportunities, assistance in writing resumes, and practising interview questions.

Provide assistance with Government Services and Incentives

IOGTA hosts a Centrelink Self-Service Kiosk that allows for the public to come and access the internet and phone services to report earnings etc. There is also a Centrelink agent, available by appointment, to assist with any queries and to assist users within our community that may struggle with English, technology or are elderly.

IOGTA gets involved with many public grants and programs to ensure that the Indian Ocean Territories are able to receive assistance and support that would be freely available on the mainland. Currently IOGTA is running the Be Connected Program, an incentive empowering all Australians to thrive in the digital world.
Our History
Indian Ocean Group Training Association (IOGTA) was established in 1995, with aims to provide access to vocational training and to administer apprenticeships and traineeships to the Indian Ocean Territories – Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

In 1995, group training taking place, but there was only two employees and two apprentices signed up!
​
Now in 2021, group training is going strong and offering more courses than ever, and IOGTA currently has 37 trainees and 22 apprentices!

Management Committee
The IOGTA Management Committee is made up of outstanding members from both the Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island communities, who have experience in many areas such as Education, Industry, and Local Government and Employment.

With such range in industries, this allows our Management Committee to have knowledge in all areas.
All the members of the Management Committee are devoted in ensuring all the divisions of IOGTA services meet the needs of the community, in a fair and equitable manner, as well as guaranteeing high quality training and employment services.

IOGTA is governed under a constitution, our current board members have been sitting on the committee for a substantial amount of time and have an in-depth knowledge of IOGTA, our values and mission as a business.

Our Team
At Indian Ocean Group Training Association (IOGTA) we have an extremely inclusive and diverse team, located on both Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Our team takes pride, not only in providing services to the Indian Ocean Territories, but also in providing advice and mentoring to the students, participants, apprentices, trainees, employees and all members of the community.
