We can also assist in placing apprentices and support employers with their own apprenticeship programs.

Apprentices
Are you looking to hire or become an Apprentice or Trainee?
This is often referred to as 'Group Training' in Australia.
​
​Not only do we employ and place apprentices with industry host employers as regular group training organisations do, we also provide support to employers who choose to employ their apprentices directly.
​​
IOGTA offers group training services like no other in Australia.

Training
Are you looking to increase your skill set or refresh your certifications?
​
We provide Adult Education Services (AES) and Vocational Education & Training (VET) through our own Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a selection of third party RTOs.
​
We also run community consultations to determine training needs and ensure development of future employment prospects.
Our Services
Indian Ocean Group Training Association (IOGTA) is a non for profit organisation that offers a wide range of services to the communities of Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands, such as: training services, apprentice and trainee assistance, employment services, government services and public grants.

Apprenticeship and traineeship services includes the recruitment, employment, administration, support and mentoring processes, to ensure that the apprentice/trainee, as well as the employer are satisfied and to boost completion rates. Employment services provided by IOGTA include a labour hire process for employees, assistance for Job Seekers, such as; email distributions of upcoming employment opportunities, assistance in writing resumes, and practising interview questions. For more information about employment, click here.
IOGTA also provides assistance with Government Services and Incentives. Centrelink Services – IOGTA hosts a Centrelink Self-Service Kiosk that allows for the public to come and access the internet and phone services to report earnings etc. There is also a Centrelink agent, available by appointment, to assist with any queries and to assist users within our community that may struggle with English, technology or are elderly. IOGTA gets involved with many public grants and programs to ensure that the Indian Ocean Territories are able to receive assistance and support that would be freely available on the mainland. Currently IOGTA is running the Be Connected Program, an incentive empowering all Australians to thrive in the digital world.
Community Initiatives
Be Connected
IOGTA has successfully become a Be Connected network provider.

Our mentors are now able to assist older Australians get online, build digital skills, loan a mobile phone etc.
​
This funding will assist with developing new activities for the community to attend.

IOGTA is an agent for Centrelink Services.

You can drop into the office and use our Self Service Kiosk or you can make an appointment to be assisted by one of our staff members.
